A Good start on a well drained pitch saw the TON using width and taking it to the opposition. Even though Moulton managed to get on the scoreboard first with an unconverted Try It was Honiton who were in control of proceedings, rewarded by a powerful try by Tom Irish and cleanly converted by Will Leonard.
10 mins later Phil (I can’t give this sport up ) Cooke found a gap a dotted down but this time Leonard’s special Tee didn’t come good.
Just before the interval The Opposition managed to claw one back and convert leveling the scores .
With an injury ( everyone on the pitch heard) to Phil Bennett ruling him out of the rest of the match the TON struggled to maintain control and gradually the pressure of the Farmers took over dominating the play with a number of well worked tries.
Having had a shuffle about and bringing on replacements Honiton kept up with their spirited performance enabling Irish to go over again with 20 mins to play. ‘We need a propped Tee’ Leonard
Put the ball wide at the conversion, which allowed the opposition to maintain the air gap and with 2 tries in the last 10 minutes they sealed a win comfortably.
Nevertheless some great individual performances from Irish, Hattan, Cooke and Woolacott, providing confidence for the rest of the season up front. however the Richard Cranium award must go to Ashby senior who had a stinker getting carded 2 minutes after coming on as a replacement.
