Honiton v Exeter Saracens
Players and supporters observed a minutes silence before kick off.
Honiton kicked off and were playing up the slope, they quickly gained possession and moved up field. Ben Phillips slotted over a penalty for the Ton to take an early lead. 3-0 after a few minutes.
This lead was extended through the forwards who were dominating the opposition when Ben Spence scored, unseen by both his parents who were in attendance, converted by Ben Phillips 10-0.
A fine solo break away try from Jake Johnson who beat several defenders to outpace the Saracens defence again converted by Ben Phillips 17-0.
Saracens were awarded a penalty which they took full advantage of kicking deep in to Honiton twenty two. A line out and one phase later saw them score a converted try out left through their tight head prop. 17-7
The response was immediate from the kick off with a turnover leading to Johnny House dancing over under the posts, converted by Phillips 24-7.
A good break by Saracens thirteen lead to a try for their winger who pounced on a loose kick wide right 24-12.
With the home forwards continuing to dominate and the whole side recycling possession the bonus point try was scored just before halftime.
Angus Meadows scored wide right after wrong footing the last defender, unfortunately the conversion attempt fell short to give a half time advantage of 29-12 to the Ton.
The second half started much the same way as the first half ended with the forwards taking the game to Sarries.
The Ton pack started to demolish the Saracens pack in the scrum, they won a scrum against the head and a looping pass from Steve Smart saw Jake Johnson get his second try of the game beating the Sarries defence, converted by Ben Phillips 36-12.
Rob Price forced himself over the line from short range again after excellent scrummaging from the pack, converted by Phillips 43-12.
Jake Johnson got his hatrick try again scoring wide left, another excellent conversion from Phillips saw the half century come up for the Ton, 50-12.
Alfie Lang got on the scoreboard with a try from short range after a good catch and drive from the line out and, the conversion attempt hit the post 55-12.
Honiton hit sixty through Jack Fahy who forced himself over from short range, the conversion was just wide from Ben Phillips 60-12.
This proved to be the last score of the game and the home crowd could reflect on a great result against some fierce local rivals.
